On the first morning of your tour, we will visit the historical center of Quito, which includes highlights such as Panecillo Hill and the cable car located at 15,600 feet above sea level. We will enjoy a typical Ecuadorian lunch, and in the afternoon we will visit the Inti Nan Museum located in the Middle of the World, where you can witness various experiments concerning the equator, and you can step on the actual line that marks the Center of the Earth. Near the end of the day, we will return to our hotel accommodations.

Today, we will visit the Otavalo Indian Market, where you will have time to browse local crafts such as blankets, sweaters, shirts, and wall hangings made from llama and alpaca wool. You will also have time to explore the fruit & vegetable market, and to walk through the lovely, scenic town of Otavalo. You will continue your tour as you head to the town of Cotacachi, which is also known as Leather Town. Here, you can peruse thousands of handmade leather items.
Finally, at the end of the day, you will go to your hotel for dinner and a good night's rest.

After breakfast, your adventure begins with a visit to the Peguche Waterfall, a sacred site for the local communities, surrounded by lush forest and Andean traditions. From there, continue to the charming city of Ibarra, where you will have the chance to try the region’s famous helado de paila, a delicious handmade ice cream prepared in a traditional copper pan.
The highlight of the day is the Ibarra Train "Tayta Imbabura" a scenic ride to Andrade Marín Station, home to the historic Imbabura Textile Factory. In the afternoon, the tour continues to Ilumán, renowned as the land of shamans. Here, you can learn about ancestral healing traditions and, if you wish, take part in a traditional limpia (spiritual cleansing), an unforgettable cultural experience. At the end of the day, return to your hotel with memories full of history, culture, and local traditions.
Please Note: The train ride is available for tours scheduled Wednesday through Sunday.
If your tour day falls on Monday or Tuesday, the morning will begin with an exciting kayak activity at Lake San Pablo You will learn how the local communities make kayaks out the famous Totora plant that exist all over the lake, our kayaker (Guide) will provide you the safety talk and along the way it is still possible to see some birds like cormorants, andean gulls or many other species. Afterwards, We followed by a visit to Peguche Waterfall, and in the afternoon a stop in Ilumán before returning to your hotel.

On this day, we will drive through the Northern Andes to the entrance of El Angel Ecological Reserve. From the Reserve´s entrance, we will travel 15 more miles to Polylepis Ecolodge, where the lodge´s staff will be waiting for us.
In the afternoon, you will have time to acclimate yourself to the new altitude. You will also have time to do some sightseeing before a nice and filling dinner.

After breakfast we will begin a 3-hour hike, but the time will fly by as you enjoy the beautiful scenery, as this area is covered with Frailejónes (endemic plants from the Andes).
Mid-morning finds us headed back to the hotel, where we will enjoy a much-needed lunch, and a little rest.
You may continue to rest after lunch, or enjoy a short walk in and around the Polylepis Forest.

This morning, we will begin our journey back to Quito. On the way, we will make a stop in the charming town of Cayambe, famously known as the “Biscuit Town.” Here, you’ll have the chance to taste its traditional bizcochos (crispy biscuits), often enjoyed warm with local cheese and a cup of hot chocolate or coffee, a delicious treat and a proud tradition of the area. After this stop, we will continue towards Quito, where you may choose to be dropped off at your hotel or directly at the airport for your flight home. END OF THE SERVICES
