Ecuador Cloud Forest 5 Days Hiking Tour

Once you clear customs, one of our guides will be waiting to welcome you at the airport. From there, you’ll be transferred to your hotel in Quito.

You will have a briefing with your guide, where we’ll go over the details of your upcoming adventure and answer any questions or doubts you may have.

The hotel is located in the heart of Quito´s business district and it has many facilities to make your stay enjoyable and relaxing after your trip.

Note: This is a flexible tour that can be booked on the dates that best suit your travel plans, as it does not operate exclusively as a group departure. When traveling on your own, some daily excursions may be private, while on other days you may share activities with other travelers. This blend of private and shared experiences adds variety to the itinerary, making each part of the journey authentic, dynamic, and truly unique.

If your group has 3, 5, or 7 travelers, we can offer different room arrangements, such as triple rooms, family rooms or double and single combinations, depending on your preference and availability. Please feel free to contact us, and we’ll gladly help you with all the details and pricing.

Early in the morning, we will drive towards Pululahua Ecological Reserve. It is our starting point of the hike (8 miles), through an active volcano caldera, you will enjoy the views and the Andean flora as we hike.

Then we will continue our tour by car until a community known as Yunguilla, where we will have lunch in a local restaurant and later we will visit all their projects at the village.

Finally, we will stay overnight at a family house (homestay), this is a unique experience for you and a nice opportunity to learn more about the Ecuadorian culture. You could practice your Spanish with the families or also teach them some English!

This hike starts at 10000 ft. and ends at 9900 ft.

After breakfast on this day, we will visit a nice viewpoint known as El Chochal, where you will see some of the highest volcanoes of Ecuador such as Pichincha, Cayambe, Cotacachi, Antisana, and Pululahua, as well a beautiful view of the cloud forest.

Then, it is time to start our two hike through the cliffs, trails and magical paths surrounded by forest. Los Culuncos trail was originally use as route to exchange products between the mountain people and the coastal natives.

it was also used illegally to transport brandy from Nanegal village to Calacalí nearby Quito, but now is only used for tourism. A long the way we will enjoy lunch and rest a bit before we continue to Santa Lucia Eco Lodge.

This hike starts at 8500 ft. and ends at 6500 ft.

Early hike to visit the fantastic Andean Cock of the Rock (this is the most representative bird from the cloud forest).

This is a 1 hour hike to get to the "lek" location, this is 5:00 am effort really worth it. A sight you will never forget as the spectacular birdmen perform their dance to attract women, it will be one the highlight of this trip.

Breakfast is going to be at the Bird Lek. Then, we return to Santa Lucia to have lunch, and then prepare to go down to Maquipucuna. This hike is mainly in the cloud forest, so if we are lucky, we might see some other colorful birds and for sure many orchids along the way.

In Maquipucuna Ecolodge, we will have dinner and then we will do a night walk near the lodge.

This hike starts at 6500 ft. and ends at 4500 ft.

Early in the morning we will enjoy a birding tour around the lodge, then we will have breakfast.

At this point our guide will take you for a two hour hike into the forest to see more wildlife at  the reserve, then you will return to the lodge for lunch and be ready to a drive back to Quito.

Upon arrival in Quito city we will say goodbye , please let us know your hotel where you will stay in advance in order to arrange a drop off precisely.  END OF THE SERVICES!

YOU COULD TAKE YOUR FLIGHT HOME AT NIGHT. ALSO, IF YOU PREFER, WE CAN ADD 1 MORE NIGHT IN QUITO BEFORE YOU FLIGHT BACK HOME.
