Your journey begins early in the morning with a scenic drive south along the Avenue of the Volcanoes. The highlight of the day is a visit Cotopaxi National Park, which consists of 99,000 acres, and has a large variety of trails, lakes, rivers, waterfalls, and, of course, it’s Volcano, which will captivate you with its majesty and beauty.
In the area of the lagoon, Limpiopungo, at 12,700 feet, you will find an enormous diversity of flora and fauna – it is also possible to hike around the lagoon´s shore, where native birds of the Andes are plentiful.
Then we will drive higher up to Cotopaxi Staging Area, at 14,850 feet. In the Staging Area, it is often possible to admire a condor in flight. From this point it is possible to hike to the José Rivas Refuge for panoramic views of the Andes.
After lunch, we will head to La Cienega, one of the oldest and most historic haciendas in Ecuador. Here, you’ll have time to enjoy lunch on your own, walk through its beautiful gardens, and learn about the colonial history of the country. Afterwards, we continue to your accommodation in Riobamba, where you can relax and admire a spectacular view of Chimborazo volcano.

After an early breakfast, we travel to the picturesque town of Alausí, known for its charming colonial architecture, colorful houses, and friendly atmosphere, all nestled in the scenic Andes. Alausí has been declared a National Heritage town and is a great place to experience the cultural richness of Ecuador’s highlands.
You will board Ecuador’s most legendary railway: the Devil’s Nose Train. Considered one of the world’s greatest feats of railroad engineering, this historic train zigzags down steep cliffs, descending over 500 meters in a matter of minutes. The thrilling ride offers stunning mountain views and an authentic taste of Ecuador’s railway heritage.
The journey includes a stop at Sibambe Station, where you can enjoy cultural presentations. After this memorable experience, we will begin the return trip to Quito. END OF SERVICES.
