Colombia Highlights 15 Days Tour

This is the arrival day to Colombia and its capital . You will clear customes then our tansport will be waiting for you at the international arrivals area to take you to the hotel selected and take a rest after a long day travel!!!

Depending of the arrival time , you can explore some areas on your own or simply relax and adjust to the City elevation over 8,000 feet.

Today you will visit on of the largest and cosmopolitan cities of South America!! Our tour start at la Candelaria area ( Bogota's old town ) and we will bike around the City visiting places such as: Plaza Bolivar , Catedral de Bogota , Casa Narino , Calle 7 , San Francisco Church , Parque los Periodistas , Coffee Factory , Fruit Market & the Grafitty tour . Then we will go to visit Monserrate Hill ( Cable Car ) located at the East side of Bogota , where you will enjoy a marvelous view of the entire city populated by over 11 millon people. Finally back to the hotel for overnight.

Early in the morning you will go by car to Guatavita Area and its sacred lagoon , this will take around 1 hour from Bogota and at the lake you will do a hike for 1 hour enjoying the andean landscapes and the lagoon.

After this you will go to Zipaquira twon not far away from the first stop , at this point you will have some time to explore this magical and colorful town ( here you can get something to eat and enjoy with a local beer o juice ).

This town was the second home town of the famous colombian writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

Then you will visit on the most seeing places in the entire Colombia known as Zipaquira Salt Cathedral. It is located 300 feet underground together with one of the oldest salt mines of South America.

By 1950 start the construction of the magical wonder that represents the Catholisim in South America. This tour is Self Guided ( multi- languages ) , it has 22 stations where trough a device ( provided at the entrance ) you will go on your pace getting to know about this magical place . Then you will meet our transportation to take you back to Bogota and enjoy on your own the rest of the afternoon in the City.

Early in the morning you will take a local floght to Santa Marta ( the Colombian Caribean Site ), upon arrival you will be transfer to the hotel in down town located in the heart of the city.

Then you will have a free afternoon to explore the city and its wide beautiful beach on your own pace or just relax and enjoy the sunset from the hotel roof top.

This will be a medium scale hiking day ( good trainning for the Lost City ).

Tayrona Park is located at 45 minutes from Santa Marta by car . So, once we arrive you will be informed our guide about the all plan and the park itself.

The program includes a 2 hours hike to Cabo San Juan ( 6 kms) , we also visit Arrecife , arenillas , la piscina and San Juan . this could be a hard walk but very nice !!!!

After arrival you will have time to take pictures and enjoy the beach on your own , the if you want you can take lunch ( extra) in a local restaurant for like usd 10. For the return if you are too tired , you can always get the easy way back by horse for like usd 15 each way. or just get the last effort to hike back to the starting point.

It is time to be ready for one of the most incredible and amazing hikes over all South America , it is a hidden place in the middle of La Sierra Nevada mountain range.

This is a hard and excited hike , where you will visit remote areas surrounded by just primary forest and local communities.

On this day we will drive you towards El Mamey Village where we will serve lunch and get energy to start the first hike up to Alfredo´s Camp Site. It will be 12 kms approx. ( 6.5 miles ) upon arrival you will get your bed

( by the way this type of Camp sites in this area are very basic divided in the same big room a lot of bunk beds with mosquito nets each one. it is not going to be a normal hotel during the hike to the Lost City , So get prepared to live this unique experience).

OVERNIGHT : Alfredo Camp ( THERE IS NOT UPGRADES FOR THIS PART OF THE TOUR )

MEALS : BREAKFAST - LUNCH - DINNER

At 4:30 am , it is time to wake up and pack before breakfast . This day you will hike longer than before , splitted in two parts . First it is going to be 7 Kms ( 4 miles approx.) up to a Wiwa Camp , where you will rest for a bit a have lunch. Then is going to a hike up to reach the highgest point of the day ( it is hard but you can do it!! ) , then we will continue towards El Paraiso ( 10 kms or 6 miles approx.) Camp to rest and spend the night ( this one is also a basic place , where you will sleep , I am sure after this day hike you will feel ready for bed right after dinner.

OVERNIGHT : El Paraiso Camp ( THERE IS NOT UPGRADES FOR THIS PART OF THE TOUR )

Star your days with an early breakfast at 5:00 am, but you wont have to pack right away because on this day we will take you visit the Lost City which is very close from the Camp site , so you only need the hiking gear , camera and more energy to climb over 1200 steps that are guarding this Archeological Complex!!!.

You will be one of the first to visit the place , where you can enjoy and admire the sacred place and enchanted by the Indian and their ancestors for more than 700 years.

You will have time to take the best pictures , ususally in the morning the wheather is very good and sunny, perfect for this propose.

We will take you on a guided tour around many sites at the complex and finally we will return back to the Camp for lunch , packing , shower and start our way back to a Wiwa Camp for the night.

Happy morning!! but early to start our final way back towards El Mamey village ( 15 Kms. or 10 miles ) , here we will serve lunch and finally we will take you back to Santa Marta City for overnight ( this day is a great combination between basic to comfort , I guess you will need and deserve it!!! )

This is a fantastic drive from Santa Marta a long the coastal Colombian highway admiring the caribean sea all the time. A long the way we will stop at Baranquilla for a snack , then we will continue towards Cartagena City. Upon arrival we will start Cartagena's Tour ,where you will explore with our expert guide the highlights of the city such as: Castillo de San Felipe , Getsemani neighborhood , the comercial area and the down town , which still exist since XVI century.

Finally we will arrive our hotel to enjoy the rest of the afternoon admiring the sunset.

Morning depart to visit one of the most famous areas of all Colombia, the excursion start from Medellin downtown towards to a Pictorestic town kown as Marinilla where you will try a typical Paisa breakfast , after it we will continue towards Guatape Lake and you will board a motor boat tour around the area , where you can see fantastic views for pictures and one of Escobar's Houses as well as other rich family houses.

Then you will visit a place known as La Replica ( it is a typical little village ,where you can take beautiful photos and buy some souvenirs).

After we will continue towards the famous Gigantic rock called El Penon de Guatape , ( it is a natural formation created 80 millon years ago).

This rock is ver 220 meters high ( 700 feet) so to access to the top you have to go over 720 steps , but it is not difficult at all. Stunng views of the all valley from above!!!!

Then we will enjoy a typical lunch and finally we will visit Guatape town , where you will have enough time to visit on your own and take as many pictures you desire or get a nice souvenirs . At the end of the day we will return back to Medellin for overnight.

Early in the morning , we will transfer you back to the Airport in Medellin for a local flight to Pereira City. Then we will drive you to Salento village ( very colorful town with its unique houses) . In the afternoon , you will enjoy visiting the Cocora Valley and the surroundings on a Jeep Old Style Willy ( this ride is typical and very special ).

On this park we can walk for 1 hour or more depending of you and the weather condittions to look for the Gigant Oil Palm Trees ( One of the most famous trees in the country )

OVERNIGHT : Balcones del Ayer Hotel ** ( ASK FOR HOTEL UPGRADES 4 & 5 STARS )

This is the coffee day and its colours , we will take you visit a local coffee farm not far form Salento town , it is known as Buenos Aires and produce coffee from over 100 years. Upon arrival you will get to know about one of the most important industries in Colombia. For sure you will visit the entire farm with our guide and at the end of the visit you will try as many different cups of quality coffee you desire ( it is al included in our porgram!!! ).

Then we will have lunch at the farm with a good view of the valley. After we will take you on a Jeep to Finlandia ( It is a small village near by Salento with colorful old houses and a fantastic viewpoint ) we will give you time to explore and visit the place on your own . Finally, we will return back to salento for overnight.

Free morning , 12:00 am check out and transportation to Pereira’s Airport to take a flight to Bogota late in the afternoon , Unfortunately we have to say good bye after we arrive in Bogota and we invite you to see one of our other tours in Ecuador Mainland and Peru Tours.
