We will bring our day to a close with a drive back to Quito city.

Early in the morning, we will begin our one-hour drive to the Pululahua Geobotanic Reserve.   Once we arrive at the Reserve, we will ready ourselves for the hike from the viewpoint, known as Ventanas, down to the crater, known as Pululahua.  Along the way, you will witness the native vegetation of the Andean Forest – this is a very good time for pictures .

Once we reach the bottom of the crater, we will continue to the Pan de Azucar Hill, where we will enjoy our box lunch.  Finally, we will hike to the Hostal in the crater where we will spend the night.

DAY 5

OTAVALO INDIAN MARKET & PEGUCHE WATERFALL

After breakfast on Day 5, we will drive to the Imbabura Province, stopping a few times along the way for pictures.  We will continue our drive to the el Lechero Tree Trail to start our hike (4 Km.) down to Otavalo city – this takes approximately 2 hours, and gives us the opportunity to pass by, and observe the Peguche Waterfall.

In Otavalo city, you will have plenty of time to visit the Indian Market, where you can peruse thousands of hand-made, local items.

On this day, we will visit the Otavalo Indian Market, where you will have time  to browse the local crafts, such as blankets, sweaters, shirts, and wall hangings made from lama and alpaca wool.  You will also have the time to explore the fruit & vegetable market, and to walk through this lovely and scenic town.

Once we have completed our visit at the market, we head toward Cotopaxi National Park, where you can admire the stunning landscape.

There is a nice place to stop and enjoy our box lunch before we finish the trail, at which point we will drive to Cotacachi´s Leather Town, where you can shop thousands of beautiful leather items that have been hand-made in Cotacachi.
